Dr Vinod K Rustgi is the Co-Director of the Transplant Institute at Georgetown University School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1979, completed his internal medical residency at Georgetown University Hospital and his gastroenterology fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center. Subsequently, he was a Liver Diseases Fellow at the NIH. He served as Medical Director of Liver Transplantation at Georgetown from 1998-2004. Since 2001, Dr. Rustgi has also served as Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia. He is also on staff at Inova Fairfax Hospital.

Dr Rustgi's research interest has been mainly clinical in the areas of hepatitis B and C and hepatocellular carcinoma. He has directed numerous courses on liver transplantation, gastroenterology and hepatology. Dr. Rustgi has edited 5 books and over 150 chapters, articles and abstracts. Dr. Rustgi was the chair of the AASLD Finance Committee from 2003-2004 and has been a member of the AASLD Publications Committee and Program Evaluation Committee. He is a member of numerous professional societies and has served on committees of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society of Transplantation.

Dr Bhawana S Awasthy is a trained radiation oncologist with over 14 years of experience in Clinical Oncology. She completed her MBBS from the Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi, MD from Delhi University, and subsequently worked at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Oncology Clinical Research. She has been involved in a number of global, multicentric industry sponsored, and academic oncology research and drug development projects. She has worked as a Research Consultant for the multinational pharmaceutical industry, and currently heads the Clinical Research activities of Triesta Sciences.
